We believe that every strong breeding program starts with exceptional brood bitches. Anybody can breed to a exceptional stud, but it is breeders with outstanding females that can consistently produce great offspring. At Bone Point kennels, we are extremely selective on the females we breed. On average, we will go through seven of the best bred females we can find before finding one that we want to use in the breeding program. We have chosen not to breed several females that were good hunting dogs and prize I NAVHDA natural ability dogs that were out of National Field Champion, Field Champion, Versatile Champion, and prize I utility parents. We set a high standard for our breeding program and because we hope to get one step closer to the "perfect dog" each generation, we know that we can only breed the best females. Very few females that we start as puppies make it as a brood bitch. Below are the females used in our breeding program. | |

HOLDEN POINT'S DIETLINDE - "Skye"
VHDF HAE: 71 pts (101%) VHDF AHAE: 167 pts (93%) NAVHDA UT: 188/III @ 20 months DOB: 12/11/2020 HEIGHT: 24" WEIGHT: 58 lbs COAT: short/med length, liver roan, dense/harsh, Ff furnishings BITE & EYES: normal HIPS: PENNhip L.29 R.24 THYROID: OFA Normal
Skye (left) and littermate Gravy Skye was our stud fee pick for a litter that Odin sired at Holden Point Kennel. Due to COVID flight restrictions, our good friend Katie Willis flew out to Boston to bring back Skye and her littermate Gravy. Katie took Skye back at a year old to prepare her for upcoming tests. She did a fantastic job with Skye and Gravy and they both went on to knock out top scores in NAVHDA and VHDF at very young ages. Skye certainly looks like her sire, Odin, and has the same long nose and super-intense point. She is a very calm dog around the house and is just an easy dog to have around. She is a medium range dog in the field and just gets the job done. She is a fantastic retriever and naturally cautious on handling birds. After getting her back from Katie this fall, I shot a limit of eight chukar over her points on the first hunt I took her on. Her calm, stoic demeanor and rock-solid nerves are always appreciated. She is a strong natural water dog and received top scores in all water areas for all 3 phases of testing. She is a well-built dog, and her coat is the best coat I have ever seen on a GWP. Skye has developed into a fantastic dog that we expect to be a great asset to our breeding program. A huge thanks to Katie for working with her the past year and bringing out the best in her.

BONE POINT'S FERRARI - "Betty"
NAVHDA NA: 112/I @ 3.9 mo VHDF AHAE: 184 pts (102%) @ 3 yrs HEIGHT: 24" WEIGHT: 52 lbs COAT: liver roan, medium dense/medium harsh BITE & EYES: normal HIPS: PENNhip R.22 L.22, 95th percentile THYROID: OFA Normal
Betty's natural talent was obvious from a very early age when she scored a maximum 112/I in the NAVHDA Natural Ability test at 3.9 months old. If that doesn't make her the youngest 112 in the history of NAVHDA, she is probably very close. Betty is a near clone of her sire, Max (Bone Point's Magnus NA I, UT I), and her granddam Allie (McNally's Super Ali NA I, UT I). This dog can fly. Incredible ground speed and she eats up the ground. She is a very stylish pointer and would also make a great horseback field trial prospect. She hammers the water and is a great water dog. Just like her sire and granddam, she is also a very cooperative, sweet dog that really wants to please. Betty is a great house dog and an easy keeper around the house. Betty is from a very successful breeding between Max and Ziva where two litters had 11 puppies NA tested with an average score of 108 points. One dog became a UT I before 2 years old and a VC before 3 years old, and a few others were UT prize Is and IIs as 2 years olds. Betty has loads of talent and we are excited to see what she will produce.

BONE POINT'S CHINOOK - "Bay"
NAVHDA NA: 112/I HEIGHT: 24" WEIGHT: 55 lbs COAT: black roan, dense/harsh BITE & EYES: normal HIPS: OFA Good THYROID: OFA Normal
Bay is talented hunting dog that has quickly earned her way as our top house dog, too. Her strongest attributes are her nose, strong point, bird finding & handling abilities, and her strong willingness to please. She has become a great wild bird dog for us. Bay has also been a natural in the duck blind, and loves retrieving ducks over water. Bay's calm demeanor and cooperative attitude make her a dog that almost anyone could train, which is evident by how our 8 year old son taught her to 'sit' and 'shake' in just a couple of lessons as young puppy. She is a dream in the house and has an excellent temperament around people, kids, and other dogs. Bay's first two litters have produced several outstanding, high-performing versatile hunting dogs.

BONE POINT'S LEFTY
NAVHDA NA: 112/I at 6 months HEIGHT: 23.5" WEIGHT: 50 lbs COAT: liver ticked, dense/med harsh BITE & EYES: normal HIPS: PENNhip Pending THYROID: OFA Normal
Lefty started out by running on wild pheasants with our friend Art Trujillo in South Dakota as young pup, who then tested her for us in the NAVHDA Natural Ability test when she was 6 months old. She recieved a maximum 112/I. Lefty's greatest attribute is that she is just a fantastic wild bird that is always on birds and she knows how to handle them. She is a very naturally steady dog that is just very cautious on game, and rarely puts birds in the air. She is also a very strong water dog that loves to hunt ducks. Lefty is very sweet dog around the house. We are very excited to add this talented young dog to our breeding program.

RETIRED DAMS.........
BONE POINT'S KADENCE
NAVHDA NA: 108/I NAVHDA UT: 182/II HEIGHT: 25" WEIGHT: 62 lbs DOB: 2-24-2011 COAT: black ticked, dense/ harsh BITE & EYES: normal HIPS: PennHIP L 0.26 R 0.23 THYROID: OFA Normal
Ziva is one of the best hunting dogs that we have ever owned. She is a very driven, determined dog that developed very early as both an upland and waterfowl hunting dog. During Ziva's first hunting season, at only 8 to 10 month old, she had one of the of the most productive hunting seasons of any young dog we have ever owned. She would search out independently several hundred yards for chukars and huns and hold point for several minutes until we caught up with her. Ziva also retrieved over 100 ducks and geese during her first hunting season, including several limits on the Columbia River in December in tough winter conditions. During the 2015 duck opener, Ziva was the lone dog in the duck blind and retrieved 40 ducks by herself, hammering the water on every retrieve. Ziva is equally impressive on upland and waterfowl, and she performs both at a very high level. She is also one of the most durable hunting dogs we have owned. You can hunt her on chukars on multiple days in a row and she never gets sore feet or breaks down, which is a rare trait in our steep, rocky country. She has earned the nickname "The Beast" for a reason - you just can't break this dog down. Ziva has a very confident temperament and takes heavy training pressure in stride. She does great with other dogs and our three young children. For such a hard charging hunting dog, Ziva also does a great job of coming into the house and calmly laying on her bed. She is truly the total package dog. He coat is dense and harsh. Ziva is from a very successful breeding where all 7 puppies were NAVHDA natural ability tested and all 7 received prize Is with an average score over 110 points. Ziva scored a 108/I in the NAVHDA natural ability test and 182/II in the NAVHDA utility test as a 3 year old, only missing a prize I due to steadiness in the field. Ziva is a very high drive dog that hunts the field with a very aggressive search, and her duck search and water work show the same level of incredible desire. She is one of those dogs that is an "automatic 4" in the duck search and she takes a flying leap into the water on the send. Over time, Ziva has proven to be one of our top producing dams. Many of our breeding dogs today are her sons and daughters. She sired a Verstaile Champion (max 200 score at 2.5 years old), several UT prize Is and IIs, including many that completed this task before 2 years, and several just real high performing versatile hunting dogs.

BONE POINT'S KENAI
NAVHDA NA: 112/I NAVHDA UT: 186/II @ 4 yrs VHDF AHAE: 144 HEIGHT: 23" WEIGHT: 56 lbs DOB: 2-24-2011 COAT: black ticked, dense/ med harsh BITE & EYES: normal HIPS: OFA Excellent THYROID: OFA Normal
Tater is hard-nosed dog with no quit in her. Her desire for game is off the charts and she is as tough as they come. Her field search is both aggressive and relentless and she will cover as much ground as you will let her. Finding birds is her top priority. Tater retrieved several ducks in her first two hunting seasons. She is a very strong water dog that is impervious to harsh weather. When training for the duck search, you simply take Tater to a lake or marsh and just let her go. She will shred a marsh for a duck and she will not come back without it. Like her dam and grand-dam, Tater is a very strong waterfowl dog and was born with a '4' duck search. Tater has an outstanding nose and a very intense point. She can take heavy training pressure at an early age and she is the type of dog that is best suited for an experienced handler due to her level of desire, independence, and toughness. Tater scored a maximum 112 in her NAVHDA natural ability test. In fact, all 7 puppies in her litter were tested and all received prize Is with an average score over 110 pts. Tater also ran in the VHDF Advanced Hunting Aptitude (AHAE) where she performed very well in the ability subjects, where she scored 10s in Field Search, Pointing, Blind Water Entry, Search Behind Duck, and Nose. Tater also scored a 186/II in the NAVHDA utility test, only missing a prize I due to steadiness in the field. Like most of our dogs, even though Tater is a high powered hunting dog, she is still a very calm, affectionate dog around the house. She is a very affectionate companion and is great with our children and other dogs. Tater produced a lot of great puppies for us. Many of her pups had her balance of relentless drive to find birds combined with a very sweet natured temperament. She produced several high scoring NAVHDA dogs, including a few UT prize I offspring.

BONE POINT'S MARLEY
NAVHDA NA: 112/I NAVHDA UT: 162/III @ 3 yrs HEIGHT: 24.5" WEIGHT: 58 lbs COAT: liver roan, medium dense/medium harsh BITE & EYES: normal HIPS: PENNhip R.26 L.26, 90th percentile THYROID: OFA Normal
Harley is one of our young, upcoming females that is proving to be a very special dog. She is virtually a clone of her dam, Allie, who was one of our favorite all-time wirehairs - as both an amazing hunting dog and family companion. Harley is one of those big motor dogs. Whether it is in the field or water, she has an extra gear that most dogs just don't have. She simply wants to find birds a little more and is willing to run a little farther, or dig a little deeper to produce them. As high-powered as Harley is as a hunting dog, you would never know it around the house. Her dam was the same way. She is a great family dog and a real sweetheart with the family and around the house. Harley is out of one of our most successful breedings out of Luke and Allie. This cross really combined to bring out the best of both parents in their offspring. Luke is owned by Jeff Funke of Three Devils kennel and he has produced several very talented puppies for us. Harley produced many outsanding personal hunting dogs, including several top scoring dogs in NAVHDA and VHDF. ---------------------------------------------------

Frida is owned by Jim and Pat Pease of Bend, OR. Frida is one of the nicest bird dogs that we have produced. At 8 months old she was already covering incredible ground, hunting intelligently and flawlessly handling birds better than most seasoned hunting dogs. I knew after the first time I hunted over her that she was something special. She is basically a black, taller, better coated version of her dam, Allie (McNally's Super Ali NAI, UTI). They have the same sweet temperament and they are both two of the fastest, most stylish wirehairs that we have ever seen in the field. They both just eat up the ground and are bird finding machines. Both Frida and Allie are also very biddable, trainable dogs that are a pleasure to have around the house. Frida is a wide ranging field dog that excels on chukars and huns in open country. She is also a reliable waterfowl retriever in cold, icy conditions. In training, the duck search was always her strongest area, proven by her ability to earn a '4' in all four of her utility tests. Frida and her owner Jim hunt upland and waterfowl from September to February in Oregon, South Dakota, Saskatchewan, California and Arizona. You can see more pictures of Frida on Jim's website at www.fridawire.com -------------------------------------

Lola is owned by Jim and Pat Pease of Bend, Oregon. Lola is one of the most talented wirehairs we have ever produced or witnessed. She is truly a once-in-a-lifetime dog. Her desire for game is unreal. She has been a prodigy from her earliest wild bird hunts and continues to impress in every training and hunting situation thrown at her. Lola has a very aggressive, medium-to-large ranging field search. She has a spectacular nose and is an excellent bird finder. She has as much "point" as any wirehair we have seen. She honors naturally and has excellent style and intensity on game. She pounds the water and loves hunting ducks. Lola has an excellent temperament. She is a tough, gritty dog that can handle heavy training pressure and the most difficult hunting conditions out there. Sadie is probably our best all-around dog. She has remarkable abilities in the water and is an excellent duck hunting dog. She hits the water at full-throttle to retrieve and training for the duck search was almost non-existent. The hard part was getting her out of the water. She has also been a fantastic chukar hunter, covering endless amounts of ground and standing her covies for as long as it takes us to find her beeper collar. Talent aside, she has an outstanding coat and conformation and produces some of the best looking pups that we have seen. She is a proven producer of excellent versatile hunting dogs and has produced three NAVHDA Natural Ability Breeder's Award litters. Twenty-three of her offspring were natural ability tested, averaging over 102 pts. |

Stella is an extremely talented bitch with three attributes that are phenomenal; DRIVE, NOSE and COAT. Her incredible prey drive and desire to search for game on land or water is unparalleled. Her nose and ability to use it on land and water is jaw-dropping. Stella hunts at a medium range in the field and she has a very intense, stylish point. She is a tough, mentally stable bitch that can take heavy training pressure well. With that said, her incredible desire and toughness have not made her the easiest dog in the world to train. Stella has an exceptional dense/harsh coat and her conformation is fair. Stella ran her first utility test at 24 months old and scored a 178/II and was marked down due to steadiness in the field. Two of Stella's littermate's both ran UT at 24 months as well, scoring a 182/II and a 198/I - both with first time utility handlers. It is impressive to note that all three young dogs performed very well under a great amount of training pressure, including all three earning 4s in the duck search. This litter also received a NA Breeder's Award where all 8 puppies were tested and all recieved prize Is with an average score of 106.5 points. |

Allie quickly learned how to handle wild birds and
was displaying the savvy of a seasoned veteran by the end of her first
hunting season. While she is a great all-around versatile dog it is her
desire, speed, athleticism, ground covering ability, style and bird
finding ability that set her apart from the rest. She is probably our
best chukar hunting dog. Allie's brother is a Versatile Champion and
received his NAVHDA utility prize 1 at 17 months of age. Allie's sister
was the #1 Derby Dog of the Year on the Canadian prairies in all-breed
field trial competition. Allie always gives 110% the entire time she is
down. The great thing about Allie is that while she is a little dynamo
in the field, she is one of the calmest, most sweet natured dogs I've
ever been around in the house. She has an excellent temperament and is
always happy and eager to work or please. She is without doubt the most
intelligent dog we have ever owned. She is also a fantastic
retriever. Allie is a lot of dog in a small package and if I'm going on
a several day hunt in rugged country, she is the first dog I take.
